For miles in every direction, life has its own place nestled within the walls of these enormous concrete statues. What strikes me the most is the friendly tone of all New York’s. In the picture titled Times Square, I wanted to capture the life of the people and the mood of the city. With the grand display of lights in the background and the movment of the well dressed subject that entered my frame, New York appeared in my photo. The city that never sleeps.

Forgive my grammar. My photography is a reflection of my life. Simple things! A man and a woman sitting in the park (Love in the Park)…a street car coming down the tracks (River-Front Car)…people on the street just doing their thing in life (The Photographer). Sometimes it’s just a simple smile or a building that has an interesting look that are the images that I see interesting to photograph.

With people, I get energy from them. I am not drawn to beauty or style about a person, but by their inner feeling that that person gives. People have always fascinated me because of their expressions. Sadness, curiosity, fears, happiness are the expressions (Face to Face) / (Memphis Smile) that have great weight. We all carry our expressions with so much emotion and weight that we affect everyone we come in contact with without whispering a word.

With architecture and landscape, it’s almost the same except in a larger scale. Sometimes you come across a building or a scene of perfectly orchestrated objects that create a feeling of awesome composition. Nature has its way of affecting these objects. The shadows created by the sun or the rain that gives us reflections of life around us. The most interesting part about photographing the landscape is that feeling of almost human kind that these large buildings seem to portray. Like soldiers guarding the streets (From the Train).

“Like every other means of expression, photography, if it is to be utterly honest and direct, should be related to the life of the times - the pulse of today….The photograph…to merit serious consideration, must be directly connected with the world we live in.” - Berenice Abbott,

… it’s a picture we don’t see enough. A man and woman (Love Story-August 3, 2008) standing next to each other with arms locked. They share a journey, a story, and a respect. They look in the same direction only to see that life is a quest not taken alone but in the risk of someone’s hand. In the picture I titled ‘Love Story’, I photographed a couple that captured in my heart the true meaning of love. Arms locked, standing at the edge of the water as to say, I would jump with you into what ever the challenge of life will bring. They share a respect and a trust that allows them to travel through their journey of life knowing that both of them shares the same ultimate goal of sacrifice. A sacrifice that is unconditional. Their goal is to please only each other and not be influenced by someone or something else. This photograph to me is a true symbol of a love and respect for their ultimate friendship.

A quiet weekend comes to end. The smell of spring came and went, but left us with some hope that the warm air of summer is on its way. Had a great dinner on Friday night. Excellent atmosphere, friendly people and great food. I managed to grab a few photos of the area, but nothing that really captured my eye. An interesting quote I saw - “ To love means to commit yourself unconditionally, to give oneself completely in the hope that my love will produce love in the loved person.”…so true!!!

This week I begin work on my first book which will be titled ” In The Eye of a Tiger“. This book will be a retrospective on the life of an amateur boxer getting ready for his big fight. The scheduled release for the book will be spring 2010.

I spent this weekend visiting Montreal. The city is full of intrigue and history. A feeling of passionate romance and mystery fills the streets. It was extremely cold and difficult to stand at great lengths outside to photograph. The streets were bare and only lonely buildings stood with icicles draping from the rooftops. This city never fails to give me what I need. I spent one day sking in the mountains of Mont Tremblant. Images from the Mountain were very flat with no shadows as heavy clouds covered the slopes.
